------ [cr. 2024-02-10T22:38:23Z] gramsci is like... a Phoenix form, but made out of mud shifting dirt or mud arranged into the shape of a bird my thinking is that his notion of hegemony politics can be conceptualized as a total transformation of the whole society from the smallest particles or cells up, assembling haphazardly like a shifting mass of water or mud on one hand, Gramsci is not a reversion form, because he at least partially understands dialectical materialism and his scheme can conceivably be turned around into something that makes sense. on the other hand, his form is awkward and strange, initially creating itself cell-by-cell in an uncanny way that seems wrong, and after that being an awkward shifting blob of dirt, a being seemingly made of stains and mistakes as much as of nature and the creation of new life. I think that Gramsci technically belongs to the "water" category. I first categorized him as Fire-bloc in the card game but I think his form is more accurately Water-bloc. so maybe there will be two different Gramsci cards for the two different themes or strategies? [*fw] ------ [cr. 2024-02-10T22:38:23Z] when gramsci transforms it is in the context of failure. he is hunkered down with these Communist allies trying to avoid fascists and the emergence of their new society and state. they are under a lot of pressure to figure out how to transform and defend the area simply so they don't die. but Gramsci cannot figure it out. Gramsci discovers parts of his body collapsing into a brown mush. he wonders if he's decomposing or what is even going on. but the brown mush does not smell bad or show the varied texture of rotting animals or plants. in fact, it looks more like perfect garden soil, with the scent of fresh dirt and possibly a bit of plant mulch. he discovers that if he accidentally knocks any of the dirt out of position, he is seemingly able to will it back to its original shape. far from being terminally ill, he is more alive than ever before. he keeps trying to finish the transformation but for some reason it is happening erratically and he cannot get the parts to come together. before long somebody breaches the fort. it seems everybody is about to be killed or captured. but instead, all that is there is a bunch of dirt all over the floor, and the fascists get confused and leave. a while later, the people in the fort reappear. Gramsci erratically emerges out of the dirt into a complete being. some of them have a cloaking ability that makes them invisible. they have a few different forms and methods by which they disappeared, but the result is the same β they became invisible to anybody not looking closely. ------ [cr. 2024-02-10T22:38:23Z] mud...wing? ~~blackwing filthwing stainwing~~ rustplume splotchwing ------ [cr. 2025-06-26T04:16:24Z] Aurora keyword - Gauntlet this ability strengthens a particular Mass containing a character so that if it gets hit really hard some of the most fervent Gramscians still endure and endure and endure despite great losses it's like a lot of your Resident cards in the Mass will drop out of it to somewhere else, they go into the discard pile or into another country's Resident deck, or some place that cards return to but the core of that particular Mass containing the ~5 most persistent cards will keep going. and you're supposed to use this ability to keep gambling on being able to put more cards down on the Masses despite the other side's fascist deck etc constantly wiping them out. that's the basic strategy for Gramscian decks / Phoenix-form characters ------ [*fw] edit 25/6: this is a good idea. the Fire-bloc Gramsci can be modeled after early Gramsci, the Water-bloc Gramsci can be modeled after late Gramsci in more the framing he existed speculating stuff in prison in real life. why is Gramsci not Earth-bloc? because the themes of that are based around socialism-in-one-country. Gramsci should be a bloc different from that because of how his Marxism is always applied inside populations where demographic subpopulations are fighting over a population. blocs are largely about the feel of a character, but still, theorists from Marxisms that are so different they come into conflict should have different blocs. :: cr. 2024-02-10T22:38:23Z :: t. gramsci :: t. 2402-10_gramsci
[[Category:Ironblood setting scraps]]
