			my second thought. whether you're doing actual Kingdom Hearts fic or this... it has to be sincere? it can't only be 'corporations suck' or 'don't let things get big', and from what I understand it has to internalize the actual themes or lessons (although in the games I think it's generally just the surface motifs a lot of the time). Deltarune actually makes the concept of alternate worlds deeper than it originally was, despite some of the original movies being vaguely didactic, and that's a bit funny.<br/>
			in that regard I feel like Kingdom Hearts is better than Knights of Guinivere even if the writing is totally corny (and exactly sitting in that shadow-the-hedgehog space of Edgy Teenage Toons) because {{em\|it can't just fall back on glorifying "being indie" as a lesson}}, it has to actually elaborate on the particular thing the big company was doing in the first place (the crossover work; itself). in some cases, a lack of competition actually makes things genuinely less complicated and allows people to simply focus on the goal of each project, while competition will then muddy the goals of the projects as projects become all about competition as opposed to accomplishing their goal simply for the sake of doing their goal well. people say that a lack of competition makes projects unfocused, but that really is not necessarily the case, sometimes the presence of competition right before it disappeared is really what will have kicked that off, because competition will have destroyed the intrinsic goals of the projects and made them into "only be good enough to get buyers, don't be excellent", and once that's gone everything will simply be mediocre. I think this is part of what Howard Blast was trying to get at: early corporate art focused on a particular craft, markets can never really regulate or punish level of ability to pursue craft because it's orthogonal to markets.
