			Kris arrives to school. Susie stops kicking her desk for a moment, finally having something to look forward to, while Alphys tries not to focus on the strange occurrence yesterday where they disappeared.

			Berdly stands up and reads a literature excerpt much too enthusiastically, not even giving a chance to his close friend Noelle. <ref name="tc"/> This guy is a problem. If there is an opportunity for him to take up all the attention and make things about himself, he will.

			Kris passes out. Reality doesn't feel entirely real, and seems to fracture and melt away. Into a weird emptiness devoid of dreams. Kris wakes up to find the class empty. Speaking of dreams... They haven't really been able to sleep. Nor has Susie. Strange. After going through all the strange shapes and events and quests of the Dark World, it feels almost as if they took their stock of dreams and blew through it.

			Kris and Susie run to the closet to try to see if there will be anything there again. They get ready to open the door, when unexpectedly they hear something coming down the hallway. Kris glances back uneasily. It isn't the spooky black shadow. It's Noelle. She seems to want to invite them to come do research for their project at the library. Susie's reaction is weird. She isn't annoyed. She seems as startled by the encounter as Kris is. She struggles to find the right words and respond just the right way. Is she afraid of something? Susie isn't afraid of anything. But she's smiling at this... Noelle can't stop smiling at her either. Wait.

			Kris allows Susie to excuse herself to the Dark World. When they enter the closet, some kind of dark fortified town is there.

			<ref name="tc">It's notable that in-game, Berdly is reading the Deltarune version of {{book\|A Tale of Two Cities}}. I've decided for complex reasons that this wasn't thematically important to intrepreting the text. {{game\|Deltarune}} has... a lot of themes in it which confusingly begin to imply it is trying to present some kind of Western-Marxist message about "[[E:shovel dream\|object-consciousnesses]]" and "ideologies" or about capitalism tearing open in a crisis, but then as you get through Chapter 4 and begin to delve deeper into the text, you see that these weird hints of Marxism in Deltarune are mostly an illusion, and mostly there for no particular reason as far as the story or world are concerned. Deltarune is mostly a "psychological" text which focuses on character personalities and relationships, and as its theory of society it leans on [[Ontology:Jungian psychoanalysis\|Jungian psychoanalysis]] and the Jungian view of dreams and mythological archetypes. Said another way, {{game\|Deltarune}} is not about Leninism; revolution is not one of its major themes.<br/>As for my insertion of the Communist phoenix characters into {{thingamajig\|caps=y\|\|Redacted\|Tale}} that then carried over into "{{thingamajig\|\|deeracted\|run}}"... those are there to fill in the void. But those three are just a side story I wanted to use to explore the idea of "Deltarune without the main characters, in some other town". They're still not important to the story of Kris, Susie, or Noelle.</ref>
