The term "Marxism" is ambiguous. "Marxism" can refer to:

  1. Bolshevism — using scientific-socialist theories to study Communist revolutions
  2. Menshevism — using models of capitalism to argue for perfecting Liberal-republicanism
  3. anarchism — improving society through abstract concepts like multiculturalism or strategies such as hegemony politics, leading to controversy and suspicion of all civil rights movements as conspiratorial attempts to convert a two-party state to a one-party state
  4. Trotskyism — using models of capitalism and workers' movements to understand and criticize all current or historical Marxist movements across the entire world
