[1] This plugin did not support certain vanilla MediaWiki features like putting reference sections above the things being linked, or using reference tags in templates, making it worthwhile to recreate the same HTML through basic templates. [2] This version of references is somewhat simpler and may have small quirks versus the plugin version.
