the Second Spanish Republic was defeated by Franco. how very subtle of them. the second republic had separation of church and state. I can almost see why they're mad already. Catalonia was turned into a local state. [[E:Dugin and the war on Ukraine|that's enough to make Duginists angry]]. the workers' movement was defeated by the Moroccan colonial army — not relevant to this image but very relevant if Trotsky was going to go into a rant about how to succeed at Communist revolution in Spain. we need to think harder about imperialism (not colonialism precisely, but inclusive of migrating bourgeoisie) as pre-dating Liberal capitalism per se. was capitalism international before it successfully became Liberal-republicanism?
