China (1970-) / People's Republic of China (PRC) -> the strawberry swatch represents concepts akin to Gramscian revolution, not akin to Western Marxism rejecting Bolshevism. the crimson swatch on early China represents something like an intense commitment to building a party-nation which once it's done can't necessarily be sustained into other things. the change in swatches is a qualitative change.

early China (1949-1970) -> I'm cutting off early China at the emergence of Deng Xiaoping, not as a derogatory statement and purely because there was a qualitative change.
