5099. Kantianism -> so Kant set out to explore various kinds of reason. this seems like some of it is a precursor to philosophy of science, although there's also a lot of it that's ethics. Kant himself was part of the Enlightenment; people describe this as a project of secular morality. either blue swatch for ethics or cyan swatch for noumena and phenomena.
      edit: apparently the noumenon comes in because of free will and freedom. that makes a lot of sense. people are still talking about it that way, whether they're referencing back to Kant or not.

5098. categorical imperative (statement about ethics versus goals) / Treat people as ends / Act to treat people as ends in themselves, and not as means / Act to treat other people as a parallel to yourself, with their own inner lives, needs, and goals -> isn't this basically the same thing as the golden rule? ...oh wow the summary video said it. hmm, the other golden rule Items don't specifically invoke ends or means, this idea of specifically trying to achieve a goal and Kant telling you to not do it the worst ways. maybe this is a separate proposition.
