       / tumblr sexyman Stalinist theorist or leader -> this to me is exactly how you get across the idea of why a system that is horrible either actually or supposedly becomes popular with a great number of people. the Once-ler fandom absolutely embodies why it is people don't do more to stop capitalism. they just don't really care. they get lost in fiction and the ability to decide what reality is. they get really into the backstories of individuals and the concept of individual choice and into the concept of abstract what-ifs instead of real what-ifs. I'm not saying I actually hate 'Once-ler fandoms' as people, but, you know... imagine all those people as a story instead of a real group of people and you've almost followed up The Lorax with a weird sequel morality tale. that's just it. keeping that thought in mind, if you want to portray a character that is objectively unlikeable but that everybody likes and regards as charismatic anyway and that is almost overflowing into being so popular people will get angry if you question him, since 2012 you know exactly what that looks like. it looks like either the Once-ler or maybe Tony Stark. does he count as that archetype?? I don't even know. somehow he feels different like he doesn't have that layer of outwardly ordinary or outwardly a loser that the Once-ler has, he just kind of jumps to impossibly awesome but also abuses his power.
