    used in Douglas Gasking's joke argument against God in which he "argues" that the most impressive god is one that never even existed and still accomplished everything without there being a god. I love how this overall discussion that was supposed to prove God was so bad at proving God that it instead birthed what is effectively a very useful definition of miracles and fantasy creatures. a unicorn is incredible, and that's what makes it interesting to fantasy readers. Mr. Incredible is incredible, and that's what makes a superhero story. a god is incredible in every way, and that's what makes it "supernatural" (or as Aron Ra would allege, "magic"): the fact that it really cannot be believed.

A Marxism that exists is more perfect -> this idea does have its own interpretation in Trotskyism. it applies specifically to the concept of forming parties and not letting them devolve into blue parties: if the Militant Tendency is not doing any Marxism practically speaking, then it hasn't preserved Marxism with its compromises. equally if Stalin makes enough compromises a workers' state does not exist even if he's still standing there. so, the party which has genuinely realized Leninism or socialist transition is "more perfect" even if it's smaller, but only if it really has done what it claims to be doing rather than making compromises. Bordigism is excluded if it does not realize a crimson revolution (it never does); the USFI is excluded if it does not stop infiltrating blue parties and move onto a further stage of its plans. at each moment there are different reasons for parties to be excluded, and so at each moment some that will be excluded later are not excluded yet. the one that keeps its promises the longest is the closest to being "the real Marxism", and basically, even if you don't reach perfection (although all that is is a very specific and limited goal of breaking through capitalism and keeping the workers' state), it's better to stay on that trajectory than it is to leave it; as long as you are on the trajectory to "the real Marxism" then Marxism exists rather than not existing.
  5. A Marxism that exists is more perfect -> this all comes down to Stalin and Trotsky defining the presence of a Marxist movement differently. Stalin thinks that Marxism is a simple crimson Materialism. Trotsky thinks that Marxism is the ability to actively defeat bourgeois class rule in any organization and that when the "uneven development" of the world gets greatly de-synchronized it's really a matter of the bourgeoisie restoring initial class rule. but that does seem to be what's correct.
    Trotsky's concept of a Marxist movement comes closer to meta-Marxism in its "modern conception" that I write about, where Marxism becomes this strange new task of every single individual in capitalism realizing that every structure and philosophical faction in capitalism must transition out of capitalism. the scraps I write have been a little abstract and about 'just anything', Trotsky takes it specifically to places like unions and purported Trotskyist parties where it "belongs".
