Main entry

  1. radial conservatism (meta-Marxism) / all-directional conservatism (relativistic; duplexed; meta-Marxism) / sectarianism (refusal to accept a new ideology with a specific connotation of clinging to one's current ideology because among some group of people it's "traditional") / dogmatism (refusal to consider a new ideology or acknowledge an ideology with a specific connotation that ideologies that have technically existed before it or without it are better) -> the motif of conservatism existing as a particular ridiculously-high insistence on clinging to a particular ideology rather than as the actual content of an ideology; the concept that conservatism can be truly center-wing, or can be blue, strawberry, orange, or crimson rather than containing stereotypically "right-wing" content as people would picture it in the 2025 United States or even in the 1955 United States.
if radial conservatism is a thing that can exist in the real world, then it's one of the only things that actually explains the weird convergences at some times between Tories and anarchists. Tories are so stuck on Toryism they want to tear out of society. anarchists are so stuck on anarchism they want to tear out of society. Trotskyists are so stuck on Trotskyism they want to tear out of workers' states. all three of these ideologies suffer from radial conservatism.
this also explains why anarchists hate Marxism so much: they perceive it as radially conservative against anarchism and anarchist transition, and hypocritically accuse Marxism of holding society back or destroying progress while also doing the same thing. this is the key. anarchists can be staunch in their radial conservatism to the point of trying to persuade countries at risk of getting pronounced redacted colonized that ethnic groups don't even exist and their life would surely be better if they refused to be Vietnamese. they will try to manipulate people's emotions with words like "uncritical" and "glazing" to try to appeal to people's innate desire to be perceived as Good rather than Evil and rational rather than unreasonable, but they will hardly ever acknowledge the possibility that generalized anarchist principles themselves could be responsible for people failing to come together in Rhizome, and not specific nation-states or the content of a specific Marxism.
