so let me get this straight, Cone Worm and Cannon Worm are supposed to be like a tree shooting cannonballs? just because pine cones fall out of trees?

that sounds more like an SCP report than a Pokémon. but it could actually work in the South Vechheim Pokédex. imagine a Pokémon episode that was like, welcome to east germany, when people were considering deforestation in the other half of germany the trees fought back. in that setting you really could have an SCP-report-sounding episode or dex entry.

so, okay. you have Cone Worm, then you have Cannon Worm, then you have a regional evolution. this new Pokémon is kind of like this commander or control tower for all the Cone Worms. this pokémon turns trees into armed bases that join together a bunch of Pokémon so that the tree functions like one big Pokémon. "tree functions like one big Pokémon" has happened before with that early tree of life plot and then with its reboot into Yggdrasil with a Z, but this would be like a kind of microcosm of that. an "Yggdrasil-let".

Cone Worm advances into a greenish moth. the moth embeds itself into a tree. the tree gets these hexagonal veins over it. the moth is able to command all the Cone Worms and Cannon Worms to drop off the tree and attack loggers. there can be more than one moth.

green-moth, tree-guard... oh man that's totally its name. KIGARDE in Japanese. Tree Guard in English.

I am so possessed to just create this ironic parody of The Lorax in that there is literally some woodcutter guy these moths defeat.
