Today I found a video by Leeja Miller that made a claim about the book "Marx Was Right" by Terry Eagleton. Before reading the book I do not believe her one bit because she has claimed basically that the only historical periods that ever exist are monarchy and Liberal-republicanism and that it is impossible to change the United States into a new historical period after Liberal capitalism; she also, after suggesting the United States was perfect and it could definitely fix itself, moved to Italy. So to me any claim she makes about Marx or even history itself isn't looking promising. Anyway, at the end of her video she claimed Terry Eagleton was "dispelling myths about Marx", one of them being that Marx was not in favor of revolution if it resulted in war — in her words, it's "a myth" that Marx "teaches the virtue of armed bloody revolutionary overthrow of the United States government". The implication seems to be that Marx is a Menshevik who believes in Liberal-republican wars of position and Terry Eagleton also believed this. Did Miller summarize Eagleton correctly? Or did she completely misrepresent his overall level of understanding of Marxism / Trotskyism?
