if you were saying "you can't contradict lived experience" about an earthquake, it would be about observations of reality. ... one Black person makes observations that either are or become observations about other Black people; a transgender person makes observations that either are or become observations about other transgender people.
- Lived experiences clash with and disrupt internal narratives of self [2] -> incorrect. internal narratives of self are also lived experiences; that has to be the case for existence to actually be experienced and become a lived experience. otherwise we would just go through all of life unconsciously and there would be no lived experiences! lived experiences are today's lived experiences and internal narratives of self are yesterday's lived experiences. so, when lived experience disrupts internal narratives of self, lived experiences are clashing with other lived experiences. not acknowledging that is misleading to the extent of making the statement wrong.
this sounds like splitting hairs but you really do have to be this precise to be able to say whether statements within post-structuralist and postmodern philosophy are true or false in practice — so much of it relies on trying to distinguish what is reality and what is narrative that you absolutely need an objective definition of which things are lived experiences in order to distinguish which things are "only" narratives. the very frustrating answer is that lived experiences are a subset of narratives but not all narratives are lived experiences, and how you distinguish them is actually to look at many individuals' lived experiences rather than just one. the consensus of lived experiences provides valuable information, but only because those things were lived and not because they were experienced. experience is narrative, life is material reality.

no, I don't hate their funny words. I feel like they illustrate how much the academics are failing to describe their own thesis statement and what it is claiming because they can't properly define any given term they try to define so they can only come up with new ones, but apart from that, I just like going around collecting them and putting them up on the wall in a frame.
