I wish there was a single word that referred to propositions, questions, hypotheses, and examples brought up to prompt a response as in the middle of a Socratic dialectic. prompt? challenge? interjection? ...antithesis. I think that's the word. I like this zigzag chart. the point isn't that the antitheses have to be strictly correct, it's that they make you think and figure out what is.
