Themes and motifs
- character embodying abstract concept -> the prototypical example is "December Holiday" (12/25), or my fan character name "Piatya Holiday" (11/5), but it can be a little less specific than that. Princess Celestia (sun) would probably be another decent example. the rest of the MLP cast are... weird, because they're presented like they're supposed to be this and then the elements of harmony don't exactly matter to their character and they aren't really their concepts, they either have complexity or are at least about five-note characters. I half feel like Starlight counts though because she does begin at a single abstract concept: "worse Twilight".
- calendar date as leitmotif -> "", although it is mostly her sister's number.
- Noelle lives in an ice palace / The "ice palace" is significant in the narrative in that it represents some kind of transformation of Noelle's house itself into a Dark World, or at least comparison of Noelle's house to something that will exist in the Dark World [1]
Theories
- Noelle will die and be resurrected / The girl will die, this holiday (prophecy panel prediction) / The girl will die winter holiday (prophecy panel prediction; Deltarune) [2] -> yeah. that is one of the most convincing predictions I've seen anybody else make for what the missing panel is. it's very likely it could mention that recurring figure "the girl" or literally make a pun on December Holiday. and Noelle getting pinned up on the cross not-really-violently is definitely hard to ignore.
the only thing about this that doesn't work for me is that the hand holes have always been associated with Gaster. who is either the Opposer or the demiurge depending on the moment. hand holes do not equal holy light and noble sacrifice in Deltarune. and also, Noelle gets pinned to a hand? not a cross. a hand. hands almost equal Gaster too. "beware the man who speaks in hands". the stuff about not being able to find your hand. apparently with some weird implication that Gaster took it or something. like, piercing your hand and becoming a Roaring Knight beyond the veil of darkness could be yet another way Gaster speaks through hands.
apart from that I don't think we're supposed to read Noelle's suffering as meaningful, I can't disprove that she will die, or could die instead of Dess, or that this panel will confirm that Dess is not a man. all of those things are still possible. decent prediction. - The Knight is Dess lucid dreaming / The Roaring Knight is Dess becoming able to lucid-dream and take control of her physical form in the created world of Deltarune (their form; his form; Deltarune)
