Notes made while re-playing Deltarune.
- no one can choose who they are in this world
- I hope it stays this way when Asriel visits next week
- jockington. oh so dramatic
- noelle can't speak up about making a group outside the rules. a group of three. but she speaks up immediately to go with Susie.
- i know what you're thinking. you know it's true
- note that kris is not afraid. I don't think even the 'bury her child' thing actually shook them. and that's the point of this scene.
- trying to walk away from Susie is So funny that I bet that's what kris is thinking
- kris steps back from closet. seems to not like the dark fountain appearing
- teeny fountains of dark goo. "too dark to see anything".
smaller version of the waterfall thingy where the Shadow Crystals appear?- ok, no, the Jevil cascade is a rock slide, not a waterfall. a little odd that you can find fragments at the bottom of it though.
- lv.1 - body contains a human Soul - game weirdly wants us to think red heart device is real. may not mean it is.
- dark blur running away. think this one was Lancer. but it's really hard to see.
- the power of (the dark fountain) shines within you
- is this a hint that the dark fountain gives Dess power?
- the legend
- if the balance were to break it would be the end of the world. - so in a way it's bad when the dark fountains open suddenly, there is a sense of dread to just the darkness coming up.
- the angel's heaven coming down is part of the thing bringing the world's destruction. like, this is one big rip that goes all the way up and all the way down. is Dess in the heart of that rip that created the connection going all the way up to the Angel's Heaven? like there is going to be something insane in the middle of there
- ralsei speaks of two fountains. ralsei's fountain has to do with the prophecy as it happens today. is the second fountain a hint to a previous prophecy? it did happen second. he did say that. but there are two.
- susie says the world getting destroyed 'might be kind of fun'. this right here is a hint that Dess is waiting in Chapter 7. that though her intentions aren't malicious per se she is out destroying the world.
- wait, so, like. wait. I'm thinking about how Deltarune quietly corrects itself whatever you say on the menus. is the twist going to be, like... the Prophecy is a totally made up thing that didn't exist before this iteration of the story, there was a normal version of Deltarune, but Dess got tired of there being a narrative, so then she screwed up the world wildly, inventing The Roaring, but the result of that was that it retroactively became part of the story??? oh god that would be so funny. none of this Roaring stuff existed on the previous version. but now absolutely everything about the world revolves around The Roaring and The Prophecy. oh god I love that. I hope that's the canon story and I didn't just make it up today
- you meet up with Dess. Dess is either tired or furious at the concept that the world always has to have a story, and doesn't think this whole retcon business of the game becoming more fantastical to correct itself is very funny.
unlike me. I think it's hilarious and I would probably laugh at that scene despite it being super serious - this would explain what chapter 0 is, if there is one. chapter 0 would be going back to the actual original version of Deltarune before Dess screwed it up.
- lancer introducing himself with 'ho ho ho' is a taunt at Kris by the writer, come on. there has to be something to how Susie calls out that it makes no sense /to her/ he's trying to be an evil 'santa claus'. this is either a reference to how everyone's afraid of carol or literally a bad joke by Dess — the writer of the fountain.
- I don't have any subjects
- I think you have to take this line in context of the chapter. you could take it as character backstory. but at the same time... he's just talking about how this is a quest to gather things from the supply closet. there's no denying that. Susie just tried to leave and go back to the school. so this must be a nod to the concept that Ralsei is just an object and this is still ultimately just a quest to gather objects from the supply closet.
- it makes you ask, so why exactly did a trip to the supply closet turn into a quest, in-universe? is it because Susie needed to grow? it probably isn't. it could be to taunt Kris with a bunch of things they don't want to see like deep black shadows and 'ho ho ho'. or, it could have something to do with Dess corrupting the world, such that normal things become fantastical and dramatic when they're not supposed to be.
- imagine how ralsei would feel if he found out his existence was like, a corruption of the way things were supposed to be. he already feels bad about being an object and presenting himself like a person. that would wreck him
