Motifs or claims

  1. pronounced Donald Trump does not think causally

/ Donald Trump does not think strategically, historically, geographically, or even rationally; he does not causally connect actions he takes on one day to their consequences weeks later, or actions he takes in one place to their consequences in other places; he acts on whim and impulse, and whenever he changes his mind, he simply lies about what he did before [3] ->

god. one of the few smash hits of a Liberal-republican writer. although, bashing Trump is one of the only topics they try to be good at, so that shouldn't be any surprise. this is such a choice insult to throw at anyone though. just imagine not understanding causality at all. you are either a very talented top-tier physicist trying to puzzle through the last unsolved questions of relativity... or Donald Trump.

  2. Trump expected seven countries to fight to take back the strait of Hormuz, after he caused the strait to be blocked; he cannot expect seven NATO countries to clear up a problem that he caused, as it is not actually a direct attack on them and "their territory" so-called -> this is one of the most Trotskyist things I have ever heard a Liberal-republican writer say. why is there suddenly international revolutionary defeatism coming out of The Atlantic, it's kind of remarkable
  3. Trump believes his problem or the problem of his country is inherently another country's problem because it should defend the United States just because it's the United States -> so the other day I was reading this text where basically Trotskyists were saying that it was incorrect for the Soviet Union to make the whole international workers' movement revolve around it or subordinate other countries to it in particular. and it's like I'm getting déjà vu
  4. Donald Trump threatened to use force to annex Greenland, which is bad because the Danish government had to think about the prospect of Danish or United States soldiers dying in a war, and people in Denmark had to start avoiding United States products; this is to imply that it doesn't particularly matter that the United States would be claiming the territory of 45,000 Inuit people who live alongside about 5,000 Europeans -> this really puts in perspective what people's priorities are in the United States and also in Denmark.

Subjective themes

  1. Greenland is 90% Inuit / The population of Greenland consists of about 90% indigenous groups out of about 50,000 people, and a majority of those are the Kalaallit people (an Inuit group); this is to imply that Greenland is not mainly composed of Danish people or Europeans [4] [5] [6] -> this is really important to keep in mind when discussing Greenland as a "Danish" territory. it's not even like the United States where it ended up filled up with Europeans, it's still mostly the people that were there before.
I wonder how Greenland became independent of the 'Danish empire' per se. I don't know much about that, but these pages say it happened.
