"Every single movement in this country succeeded because of media"
Okay, but if this was actually true, then the United States will become a workers' state right after Communists print a perfect newspaper
- widespread popular impressions that are always negative but feel real? check.
- media discussing the group(s) exists? check.
- media made within the group(s) exists? check.
- wildly diverging content between popular coded representations of groups and media made within groups? check.
- different subgroups try to push each other out of the group for not being real enough? check.
- people had to pledge to be morally pure to keep their jobs at the grocery store? check.
- state enforcement or laws put down after negative media goes around? check.
I think the correlation to causation relationship here is fundamentally wrong.
Queer creators push really hard to get into corporations, and then media flows out of them, and most of the battle to get there remains totally unseen even after all the media is made.
How is it that queer creators got into the Disney renaissance and produced no visible impact there if the media that comes out of the corporation is what causes queer creators to be in it? The queer creators get in there before the media representing them ever exists.
