Main entry

  1. classical European fascism (1922-1947) / classical European fascism (time period) / classical European fascism (1922-1975) (sense ES/Spain) ->
includes Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, Imperial Japan, and falangist Spain. Nazi Germany: 1933-1945; fascist Italy: 1922-1943; Imperial Japan: 1931-1947; falangist Spain: 1936-1975 (!) [1] [2]
huh. looks like using the most common-sense definitions, Communism started before fascism. hard to call them causally connected when the two prongs of the "horseshoe" were clearly going separately in parallel. Europe was totally capable of great violence in 1915, connected with global empires and all, if you look at the Great War. so the fact you didn't really see fascism until 1922 is telling.
