/ Trotsky had a predictive theory of Stalinism (Communist Party of the Soviet Union; CPSU; Stalin's Marxism) (Trotskyism) / The Left Opposition was formed in 1923 because Trotsky predicted what would happen later; this is to imply he knew better ways to build a functioning Marxist party; this is to imply he knew how to actually counter the rise of The Stalinists [3] -> there is one thing I can say for this. Trotskyists technically know to some extent what violet Marxism is. they think it should be used to tear apart other Marxisms assuming they aren't Marxism. but if you ask them to merely describe how Stalin's Marxism functioned and why it supposedly fell apart starting in its early stages, they will definitely try.
existential materialism -> arguably Trotsky did a bit of exmat in this text. one summary of existential materialism is that it's not afraid to consider human beings as "animals in general" and discuss periods of upheaval and competition where people stop cooperating and fight each other for shelter, food, or whatever it is they need.
