winter is over for good (pronounced My Little Pony G1 lyric) / winter is over at last (pronounced My Little Pony G1 lyric, in same song) -> this lyric is so needlessly ominous. it's like, what did winter do to you??
I guess it was winter in that legend where the tribes of Equestria came together in G4 to survive the windigos and found Equestria. but... this lyric is so weird. it has... subtle baggage that's difficult to explain.
I'm going to say this is a literal motif, not a broad one. it's literally just about the meaning of the lyrics in the G1 song. although you're allowed to bring up any other MLP cartoon to attempt to discuss its history.
that said. I'm quite tempted to make combinations linking this to "seasons as warring states period" and "Spring Song"
