      think about it. like, in practice, what actually stops people from using it this way? what actually makes them re-examine any of their previous assumptions aside from any particular one they notice at the moment? linguistics is not a field that's bound by ethics, anyone can just go around using it unprofessionally. so I'd think that having a sound theory without glitches in it is actually much more important rather than less important.
      there has to be something wrong here but I have no idea what it is.

Q7670/Q76,70Post-structuralist linguistics allows the United States to refuse to recognize Russia -> here "the United States" doesn't refer to the nation-state, and also doesn't refer to the president. because I really doubt that any U.S. president has ever understood much of contemporary academic philosophy in their time to be frank about it. a representative or two knowing what this is and horribly botching it? yeah, maybe, they have to talk about all kinds of things and they very often don't understand them at all especially when they have to do with technology or they're very recent.
