it's kind of like there should be a fourth stage to Freudian models [...] - in the Symbolic phase we have to accept the separation between minds bridged by imperfect methods of communication, as awkward as it can be to not have what we want, - and in the fourth "Economic" phase we have to accept that the compromises we make to have an economy are really stupid and often against our own physical and mental health but we can't escape the conflict between obeying this to be alive and disobeying it to be healthy - you could say that this "fourth Freudian stage" exists both in capitalism and in workers' states

isolation of individual offspring disruption of social meshing normally human beings never operate alone but everything is done in at least small groups competition between parents and offspring and the rest of society makes everything harder

it is quite funny how the fictional story "Tapers" is a much better Lacanianism than Lacanianism [*MM] it discusses themes of: * kids forming memories as they grow up which should be connected to new memories made by future generations, however some people can feel a lack of these parental memories and like something is missing from their lives * how the gap between people is bridged by communication, or (as žižekians don't consider) how you could instead end up with an ongoing gap between people where they are searching for the way to communicate with each other so they can stop being in an adversarial relationship — such as child abuse, a custody struggle between divorced parents (a kind of tiny graph struggle with the child as territory), or half of a family splitting into a reactionary graph population and trying to dominate the other half
