Description / demo[edit]
This template and its inner templates were made as a simpler alternative to the Cite plugin. [1] This plugin did not support certain vanilla MediaWiki features like putting reference sections above the things being linked, or using reference tags in templates, making it worthwhile to recreate the same HTML through basic templates. [2] This version of references is somewhat simpler and may have small quirks versus the plugin version. Currently the plugin is still installed, and will be until these templates are thoroughly tested.
Note that you do not not have to use this template (Template:references) if you use the "A"/"Z" option in Template:refdef.
