A kaiju-of-the-week series is a monster-of-the-week series focusing on kaiju- or yōkai-style beings. In the early days, some kaiju-of-the-week series were horror or sci-fi series, but after a certain point there also came to be a certain subcategory of "kaiju RPGs" and "kaiju adventures", most of them inspired by the <cite>Ultraman</cite> TV show metaseries (also known as "Ultra Series") or its sci-fi horror predecessor <cite>Ultra Q</cite>.
