Background

Rating subject: YouTube video channel @revcomintern

  • This is a Trotskyist theory channel.
  • This channel's content is somewhere between popular level and academic level in difficulty.
  • This channel speaks about Marxist history and world events, typically editorializing the former through Trotskyism.
  • This channel holds to models of a global Marxist revolution. It does not necessarily give any clear guidance on the general structure of a world workers' state.
  • This channel should be rated for accurate retellings of historical events, accurate facts about material reality and people's general experiences, and the clarity of its theories. Models which describe Trotskyist parties or interaction with workers' movements as distinguished from any conditions in the background should be evaluated for clarity and coherence, while anything that would apply outside of Trotskyism in mainstream Marxism-Leninismincluding history — should be evaluated for factual accuracy. If history is a major theme of the talk but it gets history wrong, it can be marked NG.

Motifs[edit]

  1. The ruling class will not attack an idea which is dead [1] -> that seems pretty dubious if you've ever seen capitalists try to attack Black civil rights movements as literally Communism.
  2. Bolshevism is nonviolent until capitalists attack it [2]
  3. Stalin's Marxism does not create fascism [3] -> well... that's true. it does expose quite a contradiction in Trotskyism though. Trotskyism always goes around saying Stalin and all his followers were dictators. which.... you can see how that would invite accusations that Trotskyists are just as bad. stand with Stalin in your own world class war, Trotsky, and you wouldn't be in this mess.

Additional remarks[edit]

  • This channel has been around a long time, in internet terms, and had at least two names.
