a gremlin part of my brain is seeing connections between the idea of a "universal spectrum machine" and the protagonist of 'ready player 1' digging through every old piece of media
there's an absolutely scathing conceptual joke in there somewhere but I can't quite get there.

it's kind of like
1. genki on the MF show gets unimaginatively thrown directly into an isekai version of the MF1 disc after attempting to be good at it.
there's a similar theme of being a huge nerd at particular games and then being thrown into more immersive versions
2. wade is on a treasure hunt for overly specific clues to a glorified ARG, genki team is sort of on a treasure hunt for the Phoenix
so I sort of imagine just a really stuck up nerd just like wade going through a bunch of ancient tapes looking for the best tape to be the best breeder but missing hte point.... or something
