absolute weasel word. the strangest thing is I can't think of the exact antonym: it isn't center, moderate, middle-ground, normal, reasonable, equatorial. I think in an Existentialist perspective the antonym may actually be "tolerant". "extreme" conceals the concept of totalization and the contrast to a morality-based view of individual tolerance of absolutely anything and everything from other individuals or groups unless it is absolutely hazardous. (previously I had this at L58, but it belongs much more nicely next to degree)
