Background[edit]
In meta-Marxism, "consciousness" is conceptualized in terms of an assembled material object ("shovel") and the ideology or understanding ("shovel dream") held by that entire object, such as an individual person, a specific union, an isolated Marxist party, or a specific church congregation. This means that if anything about the physical conditions of an object change drastically, such as what larger objects it is part of or what objects it contains, the "shovel" is considered to be a different "shovel" and it is assumed though not guaranteed the shovel dream will change with it. For this reason, some models of material objects or processes coded in this ontology project as Items are split out into different historical periods or contexts in case the actual functioning of the object is different in that context.
This Item is specifically for coding the general body of workers that exists in Bolshevism — the country structure associated with Stalin's Marxism and countries such as the early USSR. It is not to be used for coding workers in Liberal-republican capitalism (which may or may not be subdivided into multiple layers). The minimum conditions for "proletariat (Bolshevism)" to exist look something like a country having full employment and no individual driven out of the ability to earn enough to obtain housing and food through the competition of every individual in a population against other individuals. Without more information, this should be assumed to apply to a national population, or a culturally-significant division — if somebody is perfectly able to work and get housing in England by moving to Ireland, that doesn't count. The matter of how much internal migration is okay and how much means there is not full employment can get complicated in a big country, so if in doubt over whether a country is in Bolshevism, do not assume it is.
For the purposes of this Item, Deng Xiaoping Thought is definitely not considered to be Bolshevism if and when it does not include an employment guarantee. If people are being moved wildly to the other side of China but they effectively always get jobs there, this is okay, but any named Marxism that leaves people unused and also leaves them with unfilled basic needs does not count. The employment guarantee is one of the most critical characteristics of this Item. Having a food stamps program does not mean a country is in Bolshevism, and the presence of a Western-Marxist party doesn't change that.
