Usage notes[edit]

This is the concept of some kind of vague tradition of works lined up in time which act as a framework for LGBT+ culture and activism. The "LGBT+ tradition" may be conceptualized as a tradition in the arts, a tradition in the philosophy of identity, or any number of other things which all connect back to the core theme of "a framework for resistance which lays out the structure of entire countries and country-sized layouts of people as specifically designed to suppress LGBT+ identities and the act of exchanging stories and forming a community in defiance of The System which largely if not necessarily solely takes its success from suppressing various identities". Much like any number of works can center around the theme of Christian identity and culture but have wildly different approaches to what Christianity is supposed to achieve and how, the "LGBT+ tradition" has a few vague overall goals but primarily begins at the concept that all of its works are about being an LGBT+ identity and experiencing it with other people.

The scope of this concept encompasses academic queer theories, but is absolutely not limited to formal philosophy or academic theories. It is, overall, intended to be an Item less focused on technical definitions of the most sensible ways to define ideologies and classify people as having various major models of society according to meta-Marxism, and more aimed at the way "normal people" think about progressive themes — often in terms of art and personal experiences, but as well often deeply rooted in being specific demographic identities and being part of "communities".

The exact details of this Item may change slightly over time. The main purpose of this Item is to be a top-level category for anything which is used to demonstrate a philosophy of how to liberate LGBT+ people.

Swatch color[edit]

The color for the LGBT field tag was chosen to be approximately lavender, while still hopefully being distinguishable from the MX swatch. (Lavender leans toward red-violet, but the MX swatch was already a redder violet.) In the United States lavender is a color recognized as a historical gay or lesbian symbol.
